Worried about your child engaging in self-harm? Not sure how to talk to your son or daughter about it? The workshop provides a space for parents to gain evidence-based knowledge, receive awareness and support, and bring forward their own questions. This workshop is suitable for parents with children age 11+.
In this workshop, you will:
Increase your understanding of self-harm and learn how to talk to your child about it
Gain positive approaches and strategies to support young people engaging in self harm
Learn where you can get help for your child and how to gain support as a parent
At the same time, Malak Kamel, M.A., will lead a discussion about:
The difference between self-harm and suicidal behaviour
The links between self-harm, eating disorders, and cyber-bullying
The therapeutic skills and interventions used to treat and respond to self-harm
Throughout the workshop you will hear multiple examples and perspectives from others; we ask that you provide others with openness, confidentiality, and respect, allowing for a collaborative and supportive discussion to speak freely about what matters most to you.
